Eight years ago we met an extraordinary patient at a cancer conference. Don Wright had cancer, but he was running marathons!!!

Patients who work, care for their families, or run advocacy organizations like our friend Andrew Schorr at Patient Power, are all extraordinary – but from a PR perspective Don was and continues to be a great media story. So we started eRace Cancer on Facebook and twitter to highlight his achievements, and use those to call attention to advances in treating cancer. We said his treatments “are not your grandfather’s chemotherapy,” irrespective of his age.
